Jambol was first told about his resemblance with IBB in the 70s when he was a student in the present Kano State. The professional builder told Weekly Trust that he had noticed his resemblance with the IBB even before he was told by several other people at different occasions. “I was at a restaurant around Magwan area in Kano metropolis when suddenly somebody followed me and started talking to me. I then turned around and asked him whether he was talking to me. He then told me that I looked like IBB and that he thought I was the former president. I then told him that I was not,” Jambol recalled.

Since the Kano incident, Jambol added, many people at different occasions have been telling him about the resemblance, adding:“Up till now, people still talk about it.”

Interestingly, Jambol hinted Weekly Trust that he has some regal clothes that whenever he wears them, many people will think he is General Babangida. “I also happen to have a cap that is identical to one I’ve seen him wear before,” he said, adding: “The first day I wore it, many people could not believe their eyes until they came close.”

On several occasions people do ask Jambol whether he is IBB’s blood relation and he would normally answer in the affirmative as IBB is his brother, being a fellow Nigerian, even though we come from different states. While the former general is from Niger State, Jambol is from Plateau.

Interestingly, Jambol added, he has met IBB on several occasions while the former was the state Commissioner for Information in Plateau and the latter was the Head of State. “He visited my state then and we met. So I know him in person and he too knows me in person and I am sure he can recognize me whenever we meet again because he is humble,” said Jambol.

A father of three, Jambol told Weekly Trust that, although he bears a striking resemblance to IBB, none of his children look like the retired general in any way. Born on February 24, 1952, the professional builder attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, before he joined public service in his home state. He has been practicing building profession for 32 years, now a lecturer in the University of Jos. Shortly after he quit public service, the NIOB boss joined private practice for his livelihood. Married with one wife and three children, Jambol said: “I feel good whenever I am told I resemble a former Head of State. After all, General Babangida is a great man.”
