Meet the two latest romance novels in town

Abuja-based romance publisher, Ankara Press has released two e-book titles, ‘Love Me Unconditionally’ by Ola Awonubi and ‘This Crazy Paradise’ by Aziza Eden Walker.
Both published on February 14, ‘Love Me Unconditionally’ is set in London and Lagos and explores issues of family pressure and expectations. ‘This Crazy Paradise’ takes place in South Africa and is the second in a series featuring characters from Walker’s ‘The Seeing Place’.
Ankara Press publishing director, Emma Shercliff, expressed her excitement at the release of the two novels. “True to the Ankara ethos, the books feature rather unconventional heroines” she said, describing them as entertaining with characters whose lives are not as complicated as those who often appear in other romance novels.
Awonubi is an award-winning writer whose short stories have featured in a number of platforms. She won first prize in the National Words of Colour competition and Wasafiri’s New Writing Prize for Fiction. Her novel, ‘Love’s Persuasion’ was published by Ankara Press in 2014.
Walker is a former actress and psychologist who now writes full-time. She has published short stories and poetry. ‘This Crazy Paradise’ is her second novel with Ankara Press, following the success of her debut novel ‘The Seeing Place’.
In 2014 Ankara Press launched its first set of romance novels. An imprint of Nigerian publisher, Cassava Republic Press, it was founded with the aim of publishing ‘a new kind of romance’, challenging stereotypes and providing an outlet for romantic fiction written by African authors.
