Since the concert promos flagged off, Abuja residents have put a bug on AY’s official phone lines with frank calls of how “we cannot wait to see AY Live,” and how “we have bought and watched AY Live CDs, and appreciate AY’s out-of-the-box comedy concerts.”
Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus–Nzeribe, was in Abuja last weekend. Her text message, emphasises the calls.
“I am really so proud of you and your achivements,” her solidarity message reads. “People have been talking about the show here [in Abuja] and how they respect your work. I just want you to know i will always keep you in my prayers. keep up the good work.”
Stella (along side Kate Henshaw-Nuttal), was one of the MC’s of AY Live, Lagos Invasion 2. On Sunday, her younger colleauge, and City People’s Actress of the Year, Mercy Johnson is MC. She will be joined by Frank ‘the millionaire’ Edoho.
Sweet memories of AY Live, Lagos Invasion 2, still inhabits history as the first sold-out comedy event of it’s kind. The event, originally planned as a One-Show concert, turned out a Two-Show feat, thanks to the overwhelming crowd that were obstinate in their resolve to be part of AY Live.
AY takes his pacesetting ingenuity to Abuja with a VIP Limo Ride around town with artistes on the bill of AY Live, Abuja Invasion. At the event, he would be unveiling his new AY comedy & Style magazine (which will be distributed free).
AY Live, Abuja Invasion would be a hilarious overrun of Nigeria’s Center of Unity, and ‘thunder’ is expected to strike twice at the same place, for AY who began his professional Stand Up, comedy career in Abuja.
His debut performance in that city, 2006, was greetedith a ruptous animation. From then on, his fame spread; he became Nigeria’s Upcoming Comedian of the Year; and in 2008 he was crowned the Comdeian of the Year – six times!
