Some Lagosians leave their homes as early as 4:30 am. But that does not matter to them so far they get their cars cleaned up.
This company opens for business at 5:30 am daily and closes at 9pm amidst hordes of customers who want their cars to wear good look.
Why do men give out a personal task of letting their cars look neat to someone else? Is it borne out of class? Is it that men are too entangled in the web of busy schedules, which knock them off from subjecting themselves to washing cars?
Or, do some of them simply lack the act of washing cars?
Adewale Joseph, a Manager in one of the new generation banks, told our correspondent that he just cannot fathom why he should subject himself to washing his Toyota Camry.
He said although he is always busy with official assignments, he prefers to read novels or sleep during his leisure time rather than wash car.
“Count me out of washing car! What for? Though I value this car, I cannot wash it even at my leisure hour. I’m always busy with assignments. I do not joke with my leisure hours. At least I have a reliable car wash company in Surulere that takes the pain of making my car look good and they get rewarded’’.
Joseph said his decision not to wash his car has nothing to do with the status of the car.
‘’When I bought a second hand Mazda seven years ago, it was the car wash company that took the pains to wash it before I sold it’’.
Ezenwa Sunday, an official of an oil service firm in Lagos said that he is simply not at home with washing his car. He said he prefers doing something else during his leisure time instead of cleaning his car.
‘’I consider the task of washing my car as an uneasy one. You mix water and soap. Wash the inner and outer parts and take pains to wash the engine and the rest. For God’s sake I hate doing this. I leave this to outfits whose specialization is cleaning car, to do so and get their pay’’.
Gregory Ogunsemore, an official of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, also told our correspondent that the stress he underwent during the week usually made him to give his vehicle to car wash company.
‘’If I consider the stress I go through during the day I usually don’t have a choice than to get the car cleaned by the car wash company, but at times, If I’m in the mood I wash it by myself’’.
According to Gboyega Akinsanmi, a journalist, he considers giving his vehicle to car wash company because they clean it very well.
“They do the job better. Because of the nature of our roads, certain dirts may hang in the part of the car, which I believe car wash can easily remove’’.
To Paul Osu, an official of the Department of Petroleum Resources, his patronage of car wash is what he considers a way of helping small businesses grow.
Mr Sunday Fatunde, a civil servant also told our correspondent that he patronizes car wash because he does not know how to wash his car.
‘’I tried to wash the car one day and I flopped. I pumped water into the engine and it got knocked. Is it not better I give it to cash wash than to knock off the car?’’
A commercial bus driver, Saidi Adigun says he also patronizes car watch when he reaps appreciable profit from the business.
He said the patronage is another way of adding value to the bus.

With ever-increasing patronage of car wash company, there is no doubt that the business has grown in leaps and bound within Lagos an environs.
Sunday Trust check reveals that the least a car wash company charges customers is N600 per vehicle depending on the size of the vehicle and the parts that such customers want the washers to clean.
There is also N2,000 extra charge for cleaning of car engines.
With a minimum start up capital and small staff strength, the implication is that car wash business has come to stay and has turned men’s so-called busy schedules into gold
