In a bid to address the challenges of stigmatisation and discrimination against vulnerable populations, including individuals affected by displacement, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has organised sporting and cultural activities in order to promote social cohesion and inclusion in conflict-affected communities in Adamawa State.
The programme, which was organised in Gombi-1 Primary School was geared towards celebrating rich diversity and different aspects of cultures to strengthen peaceful coexistence, improve social connectivity, and reduce stigmatisation and discrimination in the host communities of affected LGAs.
IOM Head of Sub-Office Adamawa, Maliki Ahmadu explained that through community-based solutions such as sporting and cultural events, the IOM has helped to create a more supportive and inclusive environment for displaced persons in host communities across Adamawa.
