The new SL63 AMG is built on the standard SL model, which was earlier shown during the Detroit Auto Show in January. The car is built on a lightweight aluminum and magnesium mix. This helps is reduce the total body weight of the car when compared with Mercedes’ previous SL model. The engine is the M157, turbocharged 5.5 liter V8. The 5.5 liter V8 was also present in other Mercedes models like the CLS63, S63, E63 and ML63. The reduced weight means that the SL63 AMG will enable fuel savings and advanced performance. When compared with the older version of the SL63, the AMG will enable close to thirty percent fuel consumption.

Volker Hellwig designed an extensive body kit for the vehicle, which is one of the few exclusive features of this AMG version. The exterior looks sturdy and aggressive. Mercedes has given away some of its elegant features here. The front bumper has gone a little deeper, the cooling ducts are large, grille is double-louvered and the running lights are AMG specified LED ones. Roof is built of hardtop, made of aluminum folding. It was in 2012 that AMG was first associated with the F1 competition. More information on the car will be out after the public unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show, which is due to be held on the March 6.
