Mrs Mercy Torkwase Iortyer was on Saturday sworn-in as president of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS).
The investiture was done at the grand finale of the institute’s 26th Biennial Conference and General Meeting in Lagos.
Mrs Iortyer, first female to occupy the seat succeeds Murtala Aliyu, former Minister of State for Power.
The week-long conference discussed Quantity Survey and the construction industry.
Resource persons and participants from within and outside Nigeria discussed the theme: Politics, Policies and National Development – The Role of Professionals.
Apart from members of the African Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS), participants from top government offices, political parties, real estate, banking, insurance and manufacturing industries were present.
