If good governance is sine qua non to the success of every society and development is a product of talent and enterprise, then the Ilaje Omuro Youths council lends her voice to the emerging developments in NDDC.
The preponderance of political marketers with cacophony of deceits have plagued Ilaje environs, thereby, mortgaging the destiny of our land on the altar of selfish gains while the majority wallow in abject poverty emanating from reckless abandonment and intentional neglect.
In lieu of this, Ilaje Omuro Youths Council which forms the largest percentage of the electoral strength of Ilaje local government hereby appeal to Mr. President, Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR and commander in chief of the armed forces of Nigeria with prescient admonition that; We don’t want business as usual, we don’t want a regular politician whose stomach is important than the sea incursion in Ayetoro community, than the annual incessant flooding which destroys properties at Igbokoda.
We frown at the appointment of a politician who has questionable political antecedents with dented image to pilot the affairs of Niger Delta and its environment to another season of doom and uncertainties.
We need a technocrat!
Some who would be accountable, transparent, and needs driven, preferably in-between the youth and elder cadre and not our everyday political office holders that are driven by kleptomania, ostentation, profligate spending, that has further deepened internal crises in Niger Delta and impeded developments.
The prerequisite should be on merit, integrity and managerial competencies and not philanthropy and empowerment that are orchestrated during elections period just to buy votes and thus make youths political stooges in varying destructive capacities.
We need a patriotic, value based leadership with high level of contentment and territorial integrity and responsibility, a disciplinarian to drive sustainable growth. Someone who has the endorsement and recommendations of the Niger Delta Youths Councils, Stakeholders, Monarchs and the general masses.
Definitely, not an ambitious usurper who wants to be imposed on us by powers that be, Let the people’s choice prevail!
Ilaje Omuro Youths Council equally uses this opportunity to make an appeal to the Mr. President, to adhere strictly to the act establishing NDDC and appoint an Ilaje man from the oil mandate area in Ondo state based on rotatory requirements of the act.
Ondo state is the fifth largest oil producing state based on quantum of oil production, therefore, it’s her turn to assume the revered position of the managing director in order for the region to attain economic growth and development and to rebuild our national value system.
The council hereby wishes to express her profound gratitude to all Ilaje youths for their peaceful conduction during the #ENDSARS protest and to Ilaje advancement Forum for lending their voices to bringing international communities, federal government attention to Ilaje local government array of environmental degradation and infrastructural decay. Such heroic records would soon become proverbial in a world so bereft of heroism.
