Microsoft invests $75m in Nigeria, South Africa, others

The President of Microsoft International, Jean Philippe Courtois, disclosed this in Lagos during a visit to the country this week. He added that the technology firm planned to boost internet access by people across the globe through smart device production.
While acknowledging various government support for Microsoft’s growth in Nigeria, he noted that aside from the fact that the country is blessed naturally, it has abundant skills deposits, and he urging the country to tap fully into the available skills to develop its digital economy.
He said between 80-90 per cent of future work will require digital knowledge in Nigeria, and stressed that skills development is a big investment for technology and the country.
He said Microsoft had invested a lot of resources on its African operations of late; with about $75 million invested in various projects.
