Security operatives attached  to the joint military task force are presently combing the Ikorodu creeks and some of its adjoining communities in search for those responsible for Friday’s killings of about 20 persons at Imushin, EkoTrust learnt.
Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Adm. Fergusson Bobai,  who disclosed this said he had no details of the alleged invasion of Ikorodu by suspected militants.
He however said  investigations into the attack was presently ongoing.
Admiral Bobai who was answering reporters’ questions at the end of a 10-kilometer route walk held in Lagos , said he was certain that security operatives would definitely get to the root of the killings.
He said part of the reason for organizing the route march was to keep personnel fit for military duties.
‘‘The event is targeted at keeping personnel fit for military duties, fostering espirit de corps and providing an avenue as well as to deter criminalities in the command’s area of responsibility. In the face of current security challenges in the country, the need to keep personnel fit for operation cannot be overemphasized.
‘‘This is why fitness and mental aletness are among the critical elements of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Ibok Ibas’ policy thrust.’’
It is with this in mind that the Nigerian Navy organises the one-day route march every quarter aimed at raising the level of physical fitness of personnel in the command,’’ he said.
