Mimiko in a release described the demise of the industrialist and engineer as highly regrettable at this point in the annals of Ondo State when his wealth of experience was required.

He noted that late Alabi was to be part of the team that would chart a new paradigm shift for the development of a blueprint for the new Ondo State.

The late Alabi hailed from Akure, in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State

“I am shocked to hear the news of his passing away, Engineer Alabi would be greatly missed by all Nigerians, his sudden demise was another huge blow to a nation in dire need of its best hands at this point of our development.

“For us in Ondo State, it was devastating, as he was to be one of the pivot upon which we wished to drive our new Ondo State especially in the area of industry, education and technology.

We will miss him and we can only pray to Almighty God to grant his soul rest, his soul and give his children and the entire Alabi family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, Mimiko said.

Alabi, who died at his Ikeja GRA, Lagos home last Wednesday, 11 November, 2009 was conferred with the Officer of the Order of Nigeria (OON) award in 2003 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He joined Guinness Nigeria Plc on March 9, 1964 as a technical trainee, rising to the position of managing director/chief executive and vice-chairman on October 21, 1991 and chairman on December 6, 1996.
