The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has hailed the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for what she described as its transformational strides in promoting locally made products.

Oduwole gave the commendation on Monday after inspecting NASENI facilities in Abuja, including the Innovation Hub, technology site at Abuja Technology Village, the Troment facility, and the Abuja Technology Park at Idu Industrial Area.

The visit was part of efforts by the ministry to assess local industrial capacity and identify high-impact projects driving the Federal Government’s Nigeria First Policy.

Speaking to journalists after the tour, the minister said she was impressed with the progress recorded by the agency under the leadership of its Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu. “I have come and I have seen many things. What I am seeing today is not in terms of intents, not in terms of MoUs, not in terms of agreement or prospective investors but I have seen actual 100 per cent made-in-Nigeria products,” she said.

She noted that the facilities visited showcased happy investors “who were pushed to work quickly” and “are setting the pace in the country, in the region and on the global patterns.” The minister described NASENI’s work as a driver of national economic transformation, urging the EVC to sustain his commercialisation drive, promote knowledge sharing, and inspire younger generations.

 

The tour featured a display of NASENI’s product showroom at the Abuja Technology Park, the Troment factory, designed to produce world-class drugs, including HIV vaccines, the Innovation Hub, and several other innovations. Oduwole also joined Halilu in a ride aboard the agency’s anti-ballistic missile armoured vehicle.

 

Earlier, Halilu expressed appreciation to the minister, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi, and other officials for the visit. He called for stronger collaboration to boost productivity and urged the media to embrace developmental journalism. He disclosed that NASENI has over 40 market-ready products capable of competing globally, with more innovations underway.
