The Minister of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has called for a united effort to confront the numerous challenges facing youths across the country.

His appeal came during a meeting with the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) delegation, led by Dr. Onyeche Agbiti Douglas, at his office in Abuja.

In his address, the Minister highlighted the importance of a sustainable framework designed to address immediate concerns while fostering long-term youth empowerment through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.

“It is vital to involve young people in leadership and community roles,” Comrade Olawande remarked. “We must tackle the persistent issue of informal youth being marginalized in favor of their formal counterparts.”

He urged political and societal actors to prioritize youth empowerment with a focus on national development. Additionally, the Minister called on international organizations, such as UNESCO and UNDP, to lend their support to efforts aimed at securing a brighter future for Nigeria’s youth.

“There is an urgent need for strategic partnerships that emphasize meaningful, impactful outcomes over surface-level projects. Despite budgetary constraints, we are committed to effectively funding youth-oriented initiatives,” he affirmed.

The minister further explained that the meeting sought to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders. He stressed the importance of building an environment where young Nigerians can not only survive but thrive.

Comrade Olawande’s vision underscores the necessity of an inclusive approach to youth development, with a focus on equipping young people with the tools they need to lead and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the nation at large.
