Minister of State for Education Professor Anthony Onwuka on Tuesday sends journalists out of the venue for the inauguration of the committee on recruitment, training and deployment of 500,000 primary schools’ teachers in Abuja and refuses to respond to their questions. 
President Muhammadu Buhari had in his 2016 budget presentation to the national assembly proposed to deploy 500, 000 NCE and graduate teachers to basic schools following inadequate teacher supply.
The ministry had earlier invited dozens of journalists to cover the inauguration exercise where the minister outlined committee’s terms of reference including examining and recommending methods of recruitment, spelling out the kind of remedial or refresher courses for the teachers, finding the cost and suitable name for the project as well as determining its sustainability and who should own it among the tiers of government.
The minister did not state membership of the committee and its chairperson.
Journalists later requested to know membership of the committee and its chairperson but instead, the minister ordered them to leave the venue saying “those who got the patience to wait will know the details after our meeting.”
The minister did not address the press on the matter after the committees meeting.
