Minister of Finance Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala had said in Decemeber that the federal government was contemplating short and medium-term measures in expenditure in the 2015 budget, in view of the oil price slump.
She said FG would cut non-essential and non-developmental expenditures from the budget.
She also said the government would cut international travels and training by 50% for all MDAs saving about N14 billion.
The breakdown of 2015 budget showed that the government set aside N11.1billion for the ministry of communication technology, down from N14.6b it got in the last year’s budget.
The budget showed that out of the N11.1b, N23million is set aside for local travel and transport (training) while N32million is set aside for local travel and transport (others) for the minister and staff of the ministry of communication technology.
In the last year’s budget, the staff and the minister also gotN59m for local travels (for both training and), about 5million more than what they will use to travel this year.
In this year’s budget, the officials and the minister would use N11m to go round the world for conferences and other assignments, down from N24m used for the same purpose last year.
