The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has charged agencies in the ministry to focus research effort on national needs to sustain their relevance.

Dr. Onu gave the charge at the meeting he held with directors and directors general of the agencies of the ministry.

He also disclosed that the 16th meeting of the National Council on Science and Technology (NCST), an annual event aimed at advancing the scientific and technological development of the nation, had been scheduled to take place from Monday, October 22 to Friday, October, 26, 2018, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

According to the minister, the theme for this year’s event is: “Enhancing Nigeria’s Competitiveness in all Sectors of the Economy Through Effective Development of Science, Technology and Innovation.”

Dr. Onu called on all the stakeholders in the science and technology sector to participate actively at both the proposed NCST technical committee   and council meetings.
