A civil society organisation has bemoaned the failure of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to comply with a court order directing it to make publish details of its expenditure during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The executive director of the Incorporated Trustees of the Kingdom Human Rights Foundation International, Kingdom Okere Esq in a statement yesterday, said the failure of the ministry to comply with the judgment of October 31, 2023, casts doubts about the transparency of the programme.
Reacting to the judgment yesterday, the NGO said the ministry sent it a letter dated November 30, 2023, which purported to have complied with the directive of the court without details.
The order by the Federal High Court in Abuja had directed the ministry to provide details of its school feeding programme during the COVID-19 lockdown in line with Section 25(1) of the Freedom of Information Act, 2011.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Nkeonye Maha also ordered the ministry to comply with the order within 21 days after service of the court’s order.
The NGO had sought details of the expenditure of N528.2 million on the school feeding programme and the contact details of beneficiaries during the lockdown.
