The Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Foluso Daramola, has directed the Principal of Methodist Girls High School, Ifaki Ekiti, to proceed on suspension with immediate effect.

Daramola said the Principal, whose name was not mentioned in a release yesterday announcing the suspension, was not available to receive the state governor, Kayode Fayemi, and his entourage on Sunday when the team visited the school on a monitoring exercise, despite a notice to her from the Ministry of Education Science and Technology to that effect.

Gov Fayemi had made an on-the spot assessment on Sunday to some public secondary schools across the state to monitor their compliance with COVID-19 protocols ahead of the reopening of the schools yesterday for Senior Secondary Schools 3 students.

In the release, signed by the Assistant Director, Information, Mr Kunle Adeniyi, the Principal was directed to hand over the management of the school to the most Senior Vice Principal in the school pending  a decision by the Teaching Service Commission.
