Ministry warns of flood in 14 northern states

A copy of the alert made available to Daily Trust noted that “if adequate and necessary precautions are not taken in the areas and their immediate environment between now and 6th August, 2013 then there is the possibility of the areas been flooded.”
The areas include Beli, Donga, and Takum in Taraba; Mubi in Adamawa; Jemaa in Kaduna;  Kangiwa, Shinkafi, Sokoto, Wamakko and Shagari in Sokoto State; Kano, Bebeji, Wudil, Tudun-Wada, Sumaila, Kunchi and Gezawa areas of Kano State; and Katagum, Azare, Yelwa, Itas, Misau, Darazo, Jama’are and Kari areas of Bauchi State.
Other areas to be affected are Bindawa, Jibia, Daura and Kaita of Katsina State; Maiduguri, Malam Fatori, Ngala, Damasak and Dikwa of Borno State; Duste, Gwaram, Miga, Gumel, Ringim, and Hadejia of Jigawa State; and Potiskum, Machina, Dapchi, Gashua of Yobe.
Also to expected to be affected are, Kaura Namoda, Bukuyum, Gusau, Gummi, Maradun and Maru of Zamfara, Nafada of Gombe, Bungudu, Argungun, Bagudo, Birnin Kebbi, Bunza, Gwandu, Jega, Kalgo, Ribah and Wamakko all of Kebbi State and Vandeikiya, Ito and Katsina-Ala areas of Benue State.
The ministry said the appropriate authorities in the areas have been informed and reminded to watch and take necessary pre-emptive actions to avert disasters and loss.
