Mozambique Joaquim Alberto Chissano and renowkned Nigerian academic and author, Professor Pius Adesanmi.
Prof. Adesanmi delivered the pre-Colloquium keynote address on “Post Centenary Nigeria: New Writers, New Leaders and New Nation while Mr Chissano at the Colloquium proper delivered a paper on “Leadership and National Development.”
This is the 4th in the history of the colloquium which coincides which is scheduled to mark the birthday of the Niger State governor, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu who assured that the colloquium, because of its relevance to the “intellectual capacity development of the state and the country”, will continue even after he leaves office as governor in 2015.
The event this year featured other attractions such as the launch of the new Nigerian Writers Series, a programme bankrolled with a grant of N10m donated by the Niger State government and midwifed by the Association of Nigerian Authors.
As part of the Series, 10 books, novels and collections of short stories, published by the Association of Nigerian Authors from 10 emerging writers were publicly presented.
Another highlight was the signing into law the bill on the Niger State Book and Other Intellectual Property Development Agency by Gov. Aliyu who said the law was to secure the agencies future even after he had vacated office as governor.
