Chief Dr Olubunmi Uwazuroye, CEO of Skies Vision Communication Ltd, organisers of the pageant now in its 9th year said it is aimed at celebrating women of considerable bulk while showcasing that big women could be beautiful, confident and sexy and need not carry their weight as a burden.
Mrs Uwazuroye said the pageant will “provide a platform where ladies who are endowed with extra natural body structures, in spirit and brain, come to compete with their likes to showcase their God given talents and to provide support in building and developing a better society through positive project.”
This year, 13 contestants who survived the five day boot camp will feature in the finale. In the boot camp, the women are taught poise and character and only those found worthy proceed to the finale.
Mrs Uwazuroye explained that two entrants have already been evicted from the boot camp for indiscipline, insisting that the objective of the pageant is to celebrate womanhood and good breeding.
“Our aim is to make this special size of ladies endowed with natural paraphenilia of beauty to be socially in the hearts of the people as passé partout of beauty,” she said.
The winner will cart home cash rewards and other branded items and hold the title of Ambassador of Life International Foundation.
The event will also see the conferment of awards on prominent Nigerians including President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Bello Mahmud, Registrar General of Corporate Affairs Commission and Mr Tony Akiotu, GMD of DAAR Communications.
The event scheduled for the Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotels and Towers kicks off at 4 pm and will feature music performances among other attractions.
