Miss Comely Queen pageant holds tomorrow

After several auditions, contestants have finally emerged for the 2017 edition of the “Miss Comely Queen” beauty pageant billed to hold tomorrow in Abuja.

Speaking at a briefing, Mr Raymond Jefferson of JHelp Concepts, the organisers said the annual event which is in its fourth year, was to create awareness and sensitize people about the dangers of breast cancer.

“This beauty pageant is different because of its vision of sensitizing people towards breast cancer. We have carried out 21 breast cancer awareness projects. This is to create awareness and to help reduce the number of breast cancer victims in the country,” he said.

A contestant representing Oyo state, Bunmi Idowu said, “This pageant is not just about beauty alone, but health too. It aims to reach out to people especially those who are in the rural areas.

“We want the government to assist the organisers achieve its vision of reducing, and if possible, stopping breast cancer in the country,” she pleaded.

Nandi Dagin representing Plateau state said the organization has done several projects to save lives. “Breast cancer is a deadly disease which destroys millions of lives every year. As such, JHelp Concepts is doing sensitization so that people, especially the women, would know more about the disease and how to prevent it,” she explained.
