A commercial cyclist, identified as Dahiru Bala, who was declared missing has been found dead in a bush near Gurfata community in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A member of the vigilante in Gwagwalada, Danjuma Saleh, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Tuesday, said the deceased cyclist was declared missing on Saturday, after he picked two passengers from Gwagwalada to Gurfata village.
He said a relative of the deceased cyclist, Usman Hussain, reported Bala’s disappearance to the vigilante.
The deceased’s decomposed corpse was found on Monday, around 11am by a farmer who was going to his farm after perceiving an offensive odour.
According to him, the farmer alerted the vigilante from the community who also alerted the vigilante in Gwagwalada who mobilized to the scene to recover the body.
He said the vigilante also informed the deceased’s relations who joined the vigilantes at the scene and identified the cyclist.

The vigilante member said the deceased cyclist was strangled with a cable, before the hoodlums escaped with his bike.
A police source at the Gwagwalada division confirmed the incident, and said the division is investigating the matter.
