Mixed reactions trail Joseph Mbu’s promotion

He was among 18 other senior police officers promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police by the Police Service Commission in Abuja on Wednesday.
He came to national notoriety in Nigeria when he served as the Rivers State commissioner of police. He mobilized police under his control and tried unsuccessfully to remove Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who was then having a political face-off with President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience.
Mbu’s promotion was met with mixed reactions on the social media as Nigerians expressed how how they fele about his recent elevation.  This is what they had to say:
John London:  Does he deserve to be promoted? The answer is yes, very hardworking man, Amaechi the APC driver wanted to use the man, but no way.
Zamani: A well deserved promotion from the NPF. Mbu carry on
Odey:  Congratulations on your well deserved promotion CP. Mbu!
Jojomaster: Congratulation to all the newly promoted AIGs’ . Please work hard to transform the image of the Nigerian Police. You have being promoted at this time to bring about a change. Your days in the Nigeria Police might be long or so short a time, all the same, please do your best to ensure that things get better in your time. God bless you all
Evans:  Mbu did his job “very well” so he is getting his reward for being a politician in River state and obeying the first lady.  It is only in Nigeria, that someone as controversial as Mbu will be rewarded with promotion when he is supposed to be retired by now.
Abimbola:  I hope Mbu will not be deployed as AIG in charge of Lagos zone. It will be a disaster
