A middle aged man whose identity was not ascertained was manhandled and injured by a mob after he allegedly stole a wine bottle at Lambata village in Kwali area council.

A witness who gave his name as Gabriel said the incident happened last Thursday evening when the suspect broke into a shop and stole a bottle of wine.

He said  the suspected was apprehended and beaten up by a mob.

He said the suspect allegedly broke the shop’s wall at the back and gained access into the shop but was seen by a passerby who raised alarm and the mob ran after him.

Our reporter, who later arrived the scene saw the suspect lying inside the bush by the road side with blood stains all over his body.

The Kwali Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Babagana Galadima, did not pick calls put across to him for comment.
