A suspected motorcycle thief  whose name was yet to be released has been set ablaze by a mob near Dafa village in Kwali Area Council.

A witness, Musa Ismaila, said the incident happened around 7:30am when the deceased stole the motorcycle from where it was parked at the backyard of a house in the community.

He said the motorcycle owner parked and went into a neighbour’s house while the suspect used another key to move the motorcycle.

He said when the owner discovered that his bike was missing, he raised an alarm and some commercial motorcyclists around the village chased and apprehended the suspects a few meters to Kwali.

“It was when they apprehended the suspected motorcycle thief that he brought out two knives to attack the first two people that tried to arrest him, unfortunately for him, other people arrived  and he was overpowered and eventually killed,” he said.

Efforts to get comments from the acting spokeswoman of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, were not successful as she did not pick calls put across to her mobile phone.
