A mob descended on a man, Samuel Chijioke, for allegedly attempting to swap a woman’s ATM card in Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
A witness, simply identified as Isaac, said the incident happened on Wednesday at about 11am when the woman, Mrs Ibironke James, went to make a withdrawal at an ATM gallery.
He, “As the woman was trying to make withdrawal but the machine declined, the suspect asked her to bring her card in order to assist her. The suspect, while trying to insert the woman’s card, swapped it and returned his own to the woman.
“The woman immediately discovered that the ATM the man gave back to her was not her own. And while they were arguing, the man tried to escape when people at the scene stopped him and started beating him before he confessed to swapping the ATM card. Security agents arrived at the scene and whisked away the suspect.”

The spokeswoman of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, was yet to comment on the incident.
