A mob, Thursday, in Akenpai, Yenogoa, Bayelsa State capital, killed and burnt a suspected cultists who was found in the process of butchering the body of a woman he had killed.
He was caught while trying to cut open the corpse of the young lady identified as Best, an indigene of Epie.
Witnesses said the mob was inflamed when the man challenged them wielding the axe he had used in killing the woman.
Sources in the community said the man who is well known to the people behaved like a mad man in the day time but had allegedly been killing people at night, especially women.
One of the source said three other ladies have lost their lives in the same circumstances in the last one month.
The sources who does not want her name mentioned, said, “That’s the guy that has been killing women at Akenfa. They caught him once when he was trying to kill another woman, I think that was last month, they beat him up but did not hand him over to the police.
The police spokesman in the state, DSP Asinim Butswat, said both the suspected ritualist and murdered women were known to be mentally unstable.
