An alleged motorcycle snatcher was on Saturday burnt to death by a mob in Kurudu community of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Kurudu is in Karu District of the Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
A resident, Umar Idris, told City & Crime that the suspect, along with two others, were moving on a motorcycle when they stopped a commercial motorcyclist to carry one of them.
Idris said, “One of them joined the Okada man, but immediately the Okada man noticed some foul play he raised alarm and two of them escaped.
“The third person brought out a knife but was overpowered and the mob hit him with sticks and other objects and later burnt him alive.”
When contacted, the FCT police spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, said the matter was yet to be reported to the police.
DSP Adeh, however, said the police frowned at criminality, but added that self-help in obtaining justice, popularly called jungle justice, was wrong.
