Mob sets one-chance robbers’ vehicle ablaze

A mob has set ablaze a vehicle belonging to suspected one-chance robbers in Kubwa, a satellite town of Abuja.

The mob reportedly also rescued a man identified as a personnel of the Department of State Services from the robbers before setting their operational vehicle on fire.

A source close to the victim who prefers anonymity told our reporter on Wednesday that the man had boarded a commercial vehicle around the NNPC Junction in Kubwa on transit to Nyanya on Tuesday around 8pm, but unknown to him all the three persons he met in the vehicle were one-chance syndicate members.

“Two of them remained with him inside their Golf car while the third person left with his (the victim’s) ATM card with a mission to make a withdrawal. But in the process the victim who is a DSS personnel hit a door glass, an action which attracted the attention of passersby who rushed to the vehicle,” the source said.

He said all the three suspects fled the scene immediately, while their victim whose hands were found tied was rescued with injuries on his head, hand and leg.

When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kubwa, CSP Ayobami Surajudeen, confirmed the incident.

A source further disclosed that two mobile phones were recovered from the vehicle.
