A mob at the weekend set ablaze a suspected armed robber in the Modern Market in Makurdi metropolis in Benue State.

Witnesses said that the suspect was stoned to death before he was burnt to ashes after he, alongside others, allegedly broke into two shops at about 4am and thereafter attacked some residents.

A witness, simply identified as Abo, said, “The suspect and his co-criminals robbed a paint shop and thereafter went to a bet9ja shop to rob other victims.

“But before they could complete their mission at the bet9ja shop, some people raised the alarm which drew the attention of youths. The youths pursued them and caught one of them. He was pelted with stones and then set ablaze.”

The police spokeswoman in the state, SP Catherine Anene, was yet to comment on the matter.
