The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of an alleged female one-chance thief after she was caught and beaten to pulp by a mob.

The suspect, whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was reportedly beaten up at the Idogbo bypass area in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.

In a one-minute viral video of the incident, a voice was heard saying, “This is a one-chance woman, they are beating her, her gang escaped. Their vehicle is on fire.”

The woman was seen stripped naked in the video, sitting in a vehicle with blood on her body after the beating.

She is said to be a member of a one-chance gang posing as commercial driver and passengers to lure and rob unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables

It was gathered that luck ran out of her after a victim, who was pushed out of their vehicle, raised an alarm, which drew the attention of passersby and motorists who gave the suspects’ vehicle a hot chase.

Sources said following the chase, the gang reportedly abandoned their vehicle at the Idogbo bypass and fled to different directions while the female member was apprehended and beaten to a pulp.

The source said she was later saved by security operatives, who, he said, whisked her away.

Police spokesman in the state, CSP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect had been arrested.
