Moji Olaiya was born into the arts and with a father like the legendary highlife artiste, Victor Olaiya she caught on very quickly in the profession. 

Her professional sojourn in the entertainment industry can be traced to the early In the early 2000s when she starred as Ireti in the television series ‘No Pain, No Gain’ by Wale Adenuga before going on to feature films

She gained a lot of popularity in the Yoruba movie industry especially in movies like Agunbaniro,  Nkan Adun, Sade Blade and Apaadi.

She was the 2003 winner of the Reel Awards for Best New Actress Award and also received nomination for Best Supporting Actress of the Year.

Although her ex-husband, Bayo Okesola, and her attributed the crash of their 2007 marriage to irreconcilable differences, in recent interviews Olaiya alleged that domestic violence and infidelity were some of the reasons that led to the breakup.

Only two days before her demise, she had on Instagram expressed her gratitude to God and her love for her family and fans.

She said, “Alliamdulilahi, to you Allah I give all the glory for all you have done. I will forever praise and worship you. It’s not by power but the Grace of Allah. Thank you for the gift of life. Thanks also to all my friends and family my fans for your supports and prayers. Love you all.” 

The actress died on Thursday from what has been described as childbirth complications. Encomiums and tributes have continued to pour in from her fans and colleagues who have expressed shock over her sudden passing.

The actress who converted to Islam in 2014 will be remembered for her stellar performances in Iya Oko, Anjola, Ika Ojokan, Itajkun Ola and Opabida among others.
