Weekend Magazine: What are you doing in Abuja and the DOME in particular?

Uti Nwachukwu: I am essentially in Abuja for an event which has to do with cancer eradication. Actually, we have an obligation to raise funds for breast cancer and we are doing this as we entertain people too. So it does not look like one boring official event. It is serious but we want to make it lively so that we can draw the necessary attention.

What is the nature of this event and the idea behind it?

All the celebrities that came to the show are to contribute an amount for the cause.

The project is worth embarking on because we have to support cancer and anything we can contribute towards the fight against cancer is worthwhile. We have to play our part and it is charity and I love charity. So the idea is that, we are going to raise money and also participate in the fight against cancer.

Tell us about life after the BBA?

My life outside the BBA: the competition had been great and wonderful; everything has changed in my life. Honestly, I have every cause to thank God for what He has done in my life. He inspired me to go for the contest; He eventually made me win it and has ever since been with me in whatever I do. Frankly, after the BBA things aren’t the same again. I mean in a positive way. With all sense of humility, I am better off. Even if I have not yet invested or started tampering with my millions, I have new and better opportunities and avenues to make more money than I used to make.

What are the basic activities you embark on at present?

As usual, my focus still remains in the entertainment realm as well as some charity activities. After winning, I now have better jobs, better prospects and better connections in the industry.

I must say that I also receive support from organizations, government, stakeholders and people generally. My life is better – (smiling). “More money, more fame” which I use with all sense of humility to the glory of God and my good fans.

However, I am still working and earning my basic salary. I presently run a line of entertainment showbiz. I also present a TV show called JARA. I am also into some movie and music stuff amongst other entertainment activities. But one thing for sure, most of what I do is entertainment based.

What about some charity and NGO activities?

I am working towards starting a social campaign which would focus on prostate cancer awareness because that was what took my father away. I am determined to tackle that in my own way and to the best of my ability and effort. I am also starting up an NGO called `stringent.’ We intend to go here and there and take the opportunities to people out there. I also have movies lined up which I am going to shoot between this month and next (February and March).

What do you have to say about the situation of the Nigerian youths?

The situation of the Nigerian youths is pathetic, so the best thing to do or way to change things is that the right people should be voted into power, people who believe in the ability of the youth.

In what way do you hope to bring about change if called to work with government at any level?

I don’t mind partnering with the government to help improve the lives of the youth in any way possible.

The youths believe in me and listen to me because I always do things to represent their interest. I always rise up for them and I have represented Nigeria at different levels.

People are making rumors that you have a romantic affair with former housemate Shiela, is it true? If no, what is your relationship with her after the house?

My relationship with Sheila is just a close one and that’s all you guys need to know for now.

You seem to have a sense of humility, what’s the secret?

Humility has also been one of my weapons in life and it has always remained intact because my father always told me to see myself as someone who has nothing and that is the only way one learns to be humble. So, humility will always be a part of me!
