As the political drumbeats of 2027 begin to echo across Nigeria, one name continues to resonate with deep significance—Vice President Kashim Shettima, a son of the Northeast and a symbol of resilience, intellect, and bridge-building in a nation often plagued by ethnic and regional divisions.
At a time when Nigeria needs steady hands, pragmatic minds, and leaders who understand both the grassroots and elite dynamics of governance, Shettima remains one of the strongest pillars within the Tinubu-led administration. His political maturity, eloquence, and sharp economic insight have not only complemented the President’s vision but have also positioned him as an indispensable asset in navigating the challenges of nation-building.
For those who know the Vice President’s antecedents, from his days as a two-term Governor of Borno State to his service in the National Assembly, Shettima has always represented focused leadership. He led Borno during its darkest years of insurgency, standing with the people even when others fled. He rebuilt where others abandoned. He negotiated hope where despair had settled. That same spirit is what he brings to the national level today.
As Vice President, Shettima has consistently championed economic empowerment, interregional peace, national cohesion, and youth engagement. His diplomatic presence and policy articulation both within and outside Nigeria have drawn admiration. His recent role in economic summits, international diplomacy, and national coordination efforts proves his stature is not just symbolic—but strategic.
It is therefore not only an issue of politics but of regional honor and collective interest that we, the people of the Northeast—Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, and Taraba—must rally behind our own. For decades, the Northeast has suffered neglect, insecurity, and under representation. Today, we have a man in the room where decisions are made. It would be political suicide to allow divisive elements within or outside the party to isolate him.
Let it be clear: Vice President Kashim Shettima is not just representing a region; he is representing an idea—a tested leadership that the North and indeed Nigeria cannot afford to discard. The attempt by some selfish interests to cause disaffection within the ruling party by targeting the Vice President is not only unpatriotic but also a threat to the stability of the party and the progress of the Tinubu-Shettima mandate.
President Tinubu’s presidency must be anchored on continuity and strength—not internal fractures. Vice President Shettima has never been a threat to the President’s legacy; he is a guarantor of it. He deserves our support, not political subversion.
2027 may still seem far, but the seeds are already being sown. Let us not be passive while others write a narrative that sidelines our own. Let us defend our son, support our party, and sustain the hope that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket promised. Let the Northeast speak with one voice: We stand with Shettima, we stand for progress, and we reject all attempts to bring him down.
