Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai, has tasked Moro’a community to overcome the negative experiences and conflicts which tore communities apart and work towards unity to boost their socio-economic growth.

The governor stated this during the 2019 Annual Moro’a Cultural Day celebration, held yesterday, at the Moro’a Township Square, Manchok, in Kaura Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking through the Senior Adviser in Council, Hajiya Hadiza Balarabe, El-Rufai maintained that his administration has invested a lot in the area of security as such the people must begin to appreciate their differences and learn to live in peace with one another irrespective of tribe, religion and political affiliation.

While describing the theme of this year’s celebration “Preserving Our Cultural Heritage in the Age of Globalization” as timely, the governor also challenged the people to allow their cultural heritage reflect and shape their beliefs, aspirations, values and also define their identity.

Earlier, the president of Moro’a Development Association (MDA), Mr. Daniel Gaggah, said Moro’a community has since resolved to support and promote any peace initiative, as demonstrated in the return of displaced persons during crises, to complement the effort of government in that direction.

He called on all Moro’a sons and daughters to ensure they participated actively in the forthcoming general elections to elect leaders of their choice and to ensure peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections.

In his speech, the Chief of Moro’a, Malam Tagwai Sambo, said the community was enjoying relative peace and appealed to government and relevant security agents to sustain the trend.

He called on his people to embrace one another and support security agencies, by providing them with useful information that will help prevent any break down of law and order.

The traditional ruler, however, appealed to government for the completion of the road project and drainages embarked upon, to ease the transportation of goods and services before the rainy season sets in.

Also speaking, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Kaura Local Goverment, Dr. Bege Katuka, noted with satisfaction, the role of some prominent sons and daughters of Moro’a towards building the local government.
