Chairman of the association, Dr. Tajudeen Saád said at the maiden workshop on skills training and lecture series 1 which held in the state, that many students are not counselled because most schools lack offices for the exercises.
“We must change the mentality of students towards counselling because many of the primary and secondary school students don’t go for counselling. Some of them don’t even know what counselling is all about. But we’ve found out that many of the schools don’t have offices for counselling which need to be addressed,” Saád said.
He called on all counsellors in Kaduna State to liaise with their principals and head masters for the establishment of counselling offices.
Director, Private Schools Board, Ministry of Education Kaduna State, Dr Joe Bijimi, who presented a paper at the event titled, “Global Ethical Standard for Counsellors and Best Practices” called on the National Assembly to expedite action towards passing a bill for the establishment of “Counselling Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria.”
