A mother and her nine-year-old child survived an accident after the car they were in somersaulted near Abaji, along Abuja-Lokoja road.

When City News arrived at the scene shortly after the accident, the husband, who was behind the wheel, had sustained injuries and was rescued by men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

A witness said the accident happened around 9:23 am when the Toyota Corolla car with registration number KNE 638 AA somersaulted after one of its tyres burst.

He said the car, which was on speed from the Gwagwalada axis, veered off the road and somersaulted thrice before landing on the opposite lane.

When contacted, the FRSC Commander of Abaji Unit, ACC Abubakar Shehu Dogondaji, confirmed the accident, which he attributed to speed limit violation and tyre burst.

He said the injured victim was taken to Abaji General Hospital, while the vehicle had been towed to avoid congestion on the road.
