The police in Katsina have arrested one Hassana Sabiu, 45, of Sabuwar Kasuwa quarters Katsina for allegedly conniving with her daughter Qamariya Ismail, 25, to get rid of a grandchild born after an illicit pregnancy.

Daily Trust gathered that the dead female new born baby was found inside a dust bin at Madugu House on Yahaya Madaki way, in the metropolis. 

Speaking on the matter, the police command’s spokesman, DSP Isah Gambo, said the dumped corpse of the baby was traced Qamariyya who was known to be pregnancy as testified by her neighbours.

He said when Qamariya was arrested she confessed that her mother, Hassana, who knew about her illicit pregnancy, helped her in throwing the baby inside the said garbage-can. 

Hassana however denied any wrongdoing, insisting that what her daughter had was a still born of a seven month child.
