A housewife identified as Mrs. Khadijat Usmanas was found dead at her residence in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

Residents said she died in her sleep.

According to her neighbours, the deceased, a mother of three, died in the early hours of Thursday at her apartment along Kuje Road. Neighbours noted that the woman appeared “hale and hearty” before going to bed on Wednesday night, until her lifeless body was discovered at about 1:32 am.

“It was the cry of one of the woman’s daughters that attracted the attention of the neighbours. We rushed to the room to find out what was happening, only to find her dead,” said a neighbour, Zainab Ibrahim.

The deceased’s younger sister, Jamila, confirmed the incident.

She explained that she had gone to wake her sister up to observe Tahajud (Ramadan prayers) when she made the discovery.

While the death was sudden, Jamila mentioned that her sister had complained of a severe headache before retiring for the night.

“I went to a nearby chemist and bought her medicine when she complained of the headache. She took it before she went to sleep. When I went to her room around 1:23 am to wake her, I discovered she was dead,” Jamila said.

Jamila raised the alarm, and neighbors assisted in rushing Mrs. Usman to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead. She the doctors attributed the cause of her death to high blood pressure.

Abuja Metro learned that the deceased’s husband, a Navy personnel stationed in Edo State, was not at home at the time of the incident.

As of Thursday morning, the remains of the woman have not yet been buried, as the family is awaiting her husband arrival.
