A 30-year-old woman arrested as she negotiated to sell off her 35-day-old twin daughters has pleaded guilty before a chief magistrate court in Katsina.

Police got onto Salima Lawal of Marabar Kankara in Malumfashi LGA in Katsina following a tipoff from one Babangida, the man she’d been negotiating selling the babies to.

Salima appeared in court Monday and admitted to one count of buying and selling of a minor.

She’d also been charged under under section 21 of trafficking on persons law enforcement and administration act 2015 as amended before the new substituted charge.

The case has only been in court for mention, as prosecutors amend charges against Salima accordingly.

She is remanded to prison custody until December 20.

But, during her parade by police, she told journalists she was forced to sell off the children, after her husband Yusuf Abdullahi, a commercial motorbike rider, abandoned her.

But the estranged husband, with whom she’s said to have two sons, told police they had been divorced for two years.
