Motorcycle ban: Police arrest 90 defaulters in Minna

Niger State Police Command has arrested ninety suspects in connection with the violation of motorcycles movement restrictions in Minna Township.

A statement signed by Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Abubakar, made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Minna, said the restriction order is still in force from 9 p.m to 6 a.m.

Abubakar said the development was as a result of the security challenges posed by commercial and private motorcycles owners.

“Niger State Police Command wishes to stress that ban on the use of all categories of motorcycles within Minna Township and its environs between the hours of 9 p.m to 6 a.m is still on.

“Owners of private motorcycles whom their motorcycles were impounded in the ongoing operation are advised to approach Divisional Police Headquarters where their motorcycles were taken with valid documents to reclaim them.

“The Command, therefore, wishes to assure members of the public that the police will continue to double its effort to stem the tide of crimes in the state.

“The command also solicits the support of residents in giving useful and timely information to the police and security agencies,” he said. (NAN)
