A commercial motorcyclist in Bakkai village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State accused of raping a 40-year-old housewife has been remanded in prison.
The accused, Buhari Ibrahim, was said to be engaged by the woman’s husband to transport her to Kankara town but allegedly raped her along the road before reaching the agreed destination.
Police First Information Report read at the Senior Magistrate’s Court Katsina said, “On reaching Jeka forest, the accused stopped and demanded to have sexual intercourse with the woman but she refused.
“He pushed her down and used her hijab to tie her neck. As a result, she became unconscious during which he had sexual intercourse with her against her will.”
The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that the offence which was committed on September 26, 2017 is contrary to Section 283 of the penal code law and pleaded for more time to enable police conclude investigation on the matter.
The magistrate, Fadila Dikko, thereafter adjourned the case to November 1 for mention and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody until the adjourned date.
