Ekiti State government has called on the federal government to invest more in the tourism sector in the state.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Fayemi, on Tourism, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, said this during a tourism programme tagged ‘Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari’ under a concept called ‘Discover Ekiti’.
Ojo-Lanre, called on the government to place high premium on tourism as is done to oil and agriculture, describing that as the best option for Nigeria that is rated as the tourism hub of Africa.
He said the rolling hills and mountains, waterfalls, the Ikogosi warm spring, some discovered caves, Rivers and others have the potential to turn around the economy of the state if they are harnessed properly. He lamented that poor funding has hampered the growth of the sector
