In an attempt to curb criminal activities during the ember months, the movement of scavengers has been prohibited between 7:00p.m and 8:00a.m in Gwarinpa. 

A source at the police division in the area said the move was to check criminal activities in the area alleging that scavengers were mostly used for nefarious activities.  

The source said scavengers were used by armed robbers to transport stolen items while they also bought from suspected robbers. 

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the development.

He said on many occasions scavengers were caught conveying stolen items at odd hours. 

He said the scavengers would only be allowed to move during the day when their movement and activities could be monitored.
