A tropical cyclone expected to hit Mozambique on Thursday evening could be the worst to hit Mozambique in two decades, AFP reports.
The news agency says domestic flights to several destinations have been cancelled as a safety precaution. Officials have warned people to stay inside and keep clear of electrical cables, household electrical goods and trees.
Tropical cyclone Idai “is expected to make landfall near Beira city in central Mozambique”, the UN has said.
