Nigerians have taken to the social media expressing mixed reactions to Aisha Buhari’s comments about the leadership of the ruling party the All Progressive Congress (APC) on the sidelines of the just concluded party primaries.
Nigeria’s First lady took to Twitter on Sunday to blast the political cradle of her husband the APC, condemning perceived irregularities that characterised the primaries of the party across the nation under the watch of one of the most celebrated labour leaders as its national Chairman.
While some people considered the actions of the First Lady as an act of courage, some others however considered her utterances as mere hypocritical outburst that was rooted in the fate her younger brother Dr. Mahmood Halilu Modi suffered in the governorship primary election under the platform of the ruling party in Adamawa state.
Dr Modi and the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Malam Nuhu Ribadu lost to the incumbent governor, Muhammadu Jibrila Bindow to clinch the governorship ticket of the APC, against the 2019 general election.
Aisha Tweets thus: “It is disheartening to note that some aspirants used their hard earned money to purchase nomination forms, got screened, cleared and campaigned vigorously yet found their names omitted on Election Day, these forms were bought at exorbitant prices.
“Many others contested and yet had their result delayed. Fully knowing that AUTOMATIC tickets have been given to other people. 2/6
“All Progressives Congress being a party whose cardinal principle is change and headed by a comrade/ activist whose main concern is for the common man, yet, such impunity could take place under its watch. 3/6
“Given this development one will not hesitate than DISSOCIATE from such unfairness, be neutral and speak for the voiceless. 4/6
“It is important for the populace to rise against impunity and for voters to demand from aspirants to be committed to the provision of basic amenities such as: 1. Potable drinking water 2. Basic health care ( Primary Health Care centers) 5/6

Mummy Aisha Buhari, I salute you for your courage and truthfulness. After 2019, you may make a good presidential candidate. Hilary Clinton did so in USA.

One thing I know for a fact is that judging from the body language and ultrances of Madam Aisha Buhari. If she wasn’t married to the president she would never have voted for Buhari. She has a sound mind as only an Unsound mind can vote this Catasrophy called buhari’s administratn.

I am not moved a bit by Aisha Buhari’s outburst. It is simply because her brother lost the guber primaries in a bizarre manner. Why now? Why didn’t she cry two weeks ago when young people were schemed out of things? Why didn’t she protest when the party screened out aspirants?

If her brother had got the gubernatorial ticket, she wouldn’t have complained about the outcome even if it was manipulated. What about other victims of the same “injustice” during APC primaries across the country who needed her voice?

Aisha Buhari’s protest against the “unfairness” of the APC primaries would have won more sympathy if she hadn’t limited her complaint to Adamawa State where her brother was affected by the alleged “injustice.” Advocacy for justice influenced by selfish interest hardly gains fans
