The management of MRS Petroleum Company has donated a motorized borehole to Karabawar Yargaya community in Dawakin Kudu local government area of Kano state.
Commissioning the borehole, the General Manager in-charge of treasury of the company, Alhaji Hassan Jibril, who represented the Managing Director, Mr Andrew Gbodume, said the company would drill more boreholes in various communities across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
Jibril said the company had chosen to provide communities with portable drinking water in order to safeguard them against waterborne diseases.
He said, “Water is life and without it we cannot survive. We choose to provide portable drinking water to various communities across the country to help them to live healthier.”
A resident of the area, Malam Mamuda Sule expressed happiness with the gesture, saying “prior to the provision of the borehole, we were sharing water with dogs and donkeys.”
He said their children had to trek to some kilometers before they could get drinking water from a stream, adding that the borehole would relieve the community from the hardships they were facing in getting water for domestic use.
Another resident, Muhammad Haladu commended the company for the gesture, assuring that the community would continue to patronize MRS products.
He also appealed to the company to come to the aid of the community by renovating their Juma’at mosque.
