The film, which will be shot in a docu-movie format will be produced by a consortium of foreign production crew and Nigerian production companies.

Speaking on behalf of MRS, the Chairman/CEO, Alhaji Sayyuu Dantata, noted that beyond being a business decision it is in line with the corporate philosophy of the company.

Dantata stressed that Nwankwo Kanu has moved beyond being an international footballer to an international brand that businesses can leverage, adding that MRS Oil and Gas is particularly proud to be associated with such a project.

According to Mr. Sualeze Jude Onoh, the Corporate Brand Manager of MRS, “Just like Kanu, MRS is a proudly Nigerian brand that has grown to become an international brand with presence in several countries all over the world. As a brand, MRS is resilient, we are forward looking and we identify with icons like Nwankwo Kanu who have made Nigeria proud,” he stated.

Speaking at the occasion, Managing Director of Connect Marketing Services Limited explained that Kanu’s story is both inspiring and capable of motivating Nigerians, adding that it is replete with material-ingredients that classic motion pictures are made of.

Explaining the benefits accruable to sponsors, Adeyinka stressed thus “Sponsors get several benefits from being part of the movie and the book; sponsors get to insert their brands in the Kanu story, seamlessly, they get to access the international distribution for the film and book even as far as the Diaspora market, sponsors will also have access to the film première in the UK, US and Nigeria,” he concluded.

It will be recalled that Kanu who was the captain of the Nigerian senior national team is rated as the most popular Nigerian athlete among men and women in Nigeria according to the BMI Sports Track Study 2003 and 2009. He is also the most decorated Nigerian footballer in history. MRS is a leading integrated energy company.
