The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has charged Muslim women in the country to remain steadfast and resolute on the issue of wearing hijab, urging them not to be deterred.
The organization stated this in a communique issued at the end of its first National Annual Hijab Day (NAHD) which held at the MSSN headquarters in Abuja, and jointly signed by the National President/Amir, Br Shehu Uthman Abubakar and the National Secretary, Engr Yahaya D. Muhammad.

It said the essence of declaring the hijab day was to promote the wearing of hijab as the divinely prescribed dress code for all female Muslims through public enlightenment and free distribution of hijab.
“It is commendable that the Muslim sisters all over Nigeria have chosen to use the hijab as an injunction from Allah as a dress code and want to continue to wear it as a symbol of their religion which the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended has recognized.
“Given the volatility of the faith related issues in the country, if not themed, the action of hijab haters which are already over stretching the practice of the Nigerian Muslim community could degenerate into problems that can be better imagined than experienced,” it added.
